Predictive Texting Affect Brain Development In Children

Predictive texting causes blockages in language development. They will cause a long term effect. Children are often on social networking sites and internet chat rooms, therefore they mostly write in the language of “teenspeak”. The more usage of “teenspeak” language makes the predictive text software to get used to it and show such results. The language of “teenspeak” is used only to type faster, but the result is less accurate. Teenagers are the ones who spend most of their time in such things and therefore they get used to such language and use those words in their language skills. However, it is confusing to be a parent with a child who knows all such things, which they feel impossible to understand. The example of “teenspeak” languages are “u” for “you”, “4” for “for”, “Thnx” / “Thnks” /“Tnx” for “Thanks” or “Thank You”, “K” for “Okay”, “CD9” for “Parents are around” and “Tty” for “Talk to you later”, etc. It has become a language course invented by the teens and it is one of the latest language discovered in this century! However, teenagers will have a lack of understanding between "teenspeak" and the formal language, as a result, it will definitely cause problems in future.

Due to the usage of “teenspeak” language, predictive text tends to be less accurate. Nowadays, all teenagers are prone to make careless mistakes! Therefore, the brain development weakens in the aspect of language and they may proceed in learning it wrong and then in future, it might be hard to rectify it.

Teenagers are also risking themselves of unemployability in future due to the language is a problem to them. Therefore, we must find out a solution for this. They use less than 800 words a day on an average. There is a need to increase the usage of good vocabulary for good language skills and that is what today’s teen lack!

For this, we have to come up with a solution! Whereas I think that apps like “Grammarly” can help because it shows and gives suggestions of the mistakes that we do. It also gives a suggestion of good vocabulary and phrases that can be used instead of simple words that we type. Therefore, it will help you to expand your vocabulary.

I think there should also be an app which can access to other social networking sites and chat rooms. The app should not allow any messages to post if there is any grammar or spelling mistake. I don’t know if there is any app as such. If there is then please comment and let me know. I will be pleased if anyone of my reader or anyone comes up and create such apps and publish it. It will help most of us!

Social media sites like “Twitter” should not restrict the number of letters or alphabets we can use while tweeting because “Twitter” allows to tweet till 140 characters only, because of this people use abbreviated terms and “teenspeak terms”.

The world should also start an option named “Report Grammar/ Language/ Spelling mistake”. This function should be same as a “Report” button like on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Plus and many other social media sites, use “Report” function when someone writes an inappropriate content or violate some rules, etc. So, the same thing should be done with a language, grammar or a spelling mistake too. In this case, the person who post become more conscious and tend to write more correctly. I hope someone will be able to do it by raising such points along with me.

At present, “Facebook” is trying its best to avoid fake news on its site and I think it must do for languages too.

Such acts can be done only with the help of majority people around the world and obviously with few volunteers who can support me and raise such points and work upon it. If we all act together, then only we will be able to do it together. If this act won’t be done soon, then the proper language will get extinct in future. If we don’t act soon, then the life of teenagers are at risk! So we must act from now!
